Big Thoughts was founded in 2001 by Chris Banks, former Managing Director of Coca-Cola GB. The name conveys both a level of ambition; and a commitment to innovation. 

Big Thoughts started with an MBO from Coca-Cola in the fast-growing market for premium juice, juice drinks and smoothies. Its soft drink business, Histogram, grew rapidly and profitably to become the outsourced manufacturing partner of choice to a range of brand owners from very large multinationals, to small local start-ups. Histogram was named best Food and Drink Company in the UK in 2006 in the Food Manufacture Awards. It was acquired by European soft drink giant Refresco BV.   

Meanwhile, Big Thoughts grew both organically and through acquisition in the fast-growing sectors of low fat savoury snacks, nuts and snack bars. The growth was fuelled by the acquisition of a license from WeightWatchers International to manufacture snacks under the WeightWatchers brand. These businesses were successfully developed and sold to AIM listed specialists in confectionery and snacks, Glisten plc.
